Does anyone has a better and more economical/environmental friendly method to solve this problem? Or just let me know how you keep your books from turning yellowish.
I have benefited a lot from blogland and since I'm asking favour from you all, I guess I should do a giveaway. I will be giving away the following tissue cum coin purse. Will do a random pick from the comments on next wed (1 Oct Children's Day and Hari Raya Puasa).

try silica beads... it may work with the humidity. once they all turn color, pop them into the microwave oven for a few seconds. and i see u also discovered the red moose from ikea...
I always thought that fabric was a hippo too. I have the green. :D
I agree with using silica beads but you really do need to keep the books in a box with the silica beads for the best result (years of living with chemical engineer father taught me that....) Reading, opening the books often, and keeping them in a room with lots of light also seems to help. But paper being paper will yellow.
love the little purse. We live in a fairly dry climate so no advice on the books though.
Maybe you hv solved this problem already?... When we lived in Singapore, we had dehumifier-machines. You either empty the tank daily or hook it up to a running hose. We had these with us when we moved there. You can look for such machines in the expat sales. I hv seen a number of these on sales when I looked in the Straits Times, classified ads. Yes, the silica beads hv to be in a closed space in order to work. I also agree with the rest of Ayamachan's comment.
