Sewing for Chinese New Year

I'm trying to sew these into new clothings for Hanhan as Chinese New Year is coming, and Hanhan just had a growth spurt.

So far, I only managed to sew this.
This has two big decorative buttons on the front(it is not obvious in the photo), I love these big buttons. Pattern is from this Japanese magazine. But I changed a bit on the construction part, as I don't like to do binding.

Wow we have the same magazine, fabric and buttons. I haven't tried the dress yet (made other boys things (tell me off now because there are not photos) for a few people). Looks good. Need to start on CT's b'day...

The good thing about living in Japan are the fabrics selection here & these wonderful books. I can read patterns so I tend to sew everything without patterns. Those are very pretty floral buttons.
