Strawberry Shortcake Hat

I have been using the "rocket" thingy in the last post to iron the curvey top of my hats, since it's hard to iron with normal iron.

I think it can double up as a prop for hat photo taking too :)

I wanted to sew a hat for a sweet little girl whom's birthday falls on the same day as mine. When I finished sewing it, I did the usual, asking Hanhan to try it on, to see how it looks on a real model. She is not so keen for hat, and I have to say that's a Strawberry Shortcake hat before she is willing to put it on (she is currently a fan of Strawberry Shortcake) That's a wrong move, because after that she claim it hers :P And I have to sew another one again.

She happily wore it for a while when we went out, just for a while..... onced we were out from the sun, she immediately wanted it down. Besides that she is too tired to entertain me that evening.



The hat is reversible, made from quality Japanese fabrics from my etsy shop (sweet strawberry fabric on one side and white polka dots on red, on the other side). Ribbon is adjustable so that the hat can fit child's head better.
Pattern modified from CUCITO, CHILD BOUTIQUE PATTERNS (Summer 2009).

My Sweetie

Here's photos of my little model posing with her new dress.

None of the photos is clear, she keeps moving :P But when I put the photos together, it's really interesting to see how she posed for the photos, hehehe....

This is the best shot I can get.

Some details that I like.

I'm using the pattern from this Japanese pattern book (Summer Clothing). I didn't add in the pocket, as I feel it's not necessary. Hanhan is about 92cm tall, and I'm using the pattern for 100cm, which I think the length is just nice for her. Overall, I'm very satisfied with this dress, and Hanhan loves it too, because it was made from her favorite fabrics. I think it will looks good with the other colour way from the same fabric series too.

Both the Japanese pattern book (Summer Clothing) and fabrics (Yummy Treats (off white) and Bakery Delights (pink) ) used to make this dress are available in my etsy shop.

New Clothes

Made 3 pants for Hanhan at one go. I think they are great for outings...

like going to the zoo.

This time round, she automatically standed beside the animals when we passed by the souvenir shop, and we all got her hint, hehehe...

These pants are made from the same pattern, with only slight changes to the pockets.

Lately, she highly appreciate what I sewed for her, making Mummy so happy :))) so I made a dress for her too. I added rac ric to the neckline and pockets too, then I realised I have used quite a lot of trims and laces for these few projects. Maybe that's because I'm trying to diminish the piles of trim and laces in my cabinet. :P

I really love this set of photos, with her wearing this dress and playing with bubbles.
The original photos are actually quite badly taken, I tried my best to photoshop them, but what really made me love these photos are her expression..... simply love it *kiss*

Oil Cloth in shop!

Here is the dress that I mentioned before, and it's made from the above "Story of the Forest, Ribbon and Lace". Finally had a chance to take a photo of Hanhan in it.
This photo was taken a few days ago, when we were at Daddy's army camp open house. Daddy has finally becaome a millitary reserve. We took quite a few photos over there, some with the army tank and in Daddy's bunk, but we are not allowed to show. However, I think this photo is quite safe :)

And I'm trying to make more of these dresses. I really mean more.... I have already cut about 12 pieces for sewing. When they are done, I will let you know where you can get them.

A little update

On sewing:
Completed a dress just before Hanhan's birthday, yet to post about it, it's not easy to take a photo of her in it. There are times that you don't need her to be in the photo and there she pops her head in; and there are times that you want to take photo of her and she don't cooperate. :P

I want to create more of this dress, so that I can put them in shop, but things don't go right. There's lots of sewing and ripping going on...*sign* And I remember there were a few times that I mentioned that I wanted to put handmade in shop but it didn't happen.

Ok... I better go back to sewing... see if I can straighten it out.
